Historically, government policies imposing lower emissions have had little effect on companies to become greener. Since the first industrial revolution, fossil fuels have provided the majority of the energy needed for industrial use. Profit interests have delayed restrictions on fossil fuel energy because until recently, sourcing renewable energy was too expensive and countries lack the infrastructure needed to support renewable energy alternatives.
