Since its founding in 1854, the Grand Old Party has been pro-business — favoring a market-driven laissez-faire economy, big corporations and investors over social safety nets and laborers and women. The siren song of lower taxes and fewer regulations has always been enough to keep the Republicans and conservatives on board the good ship Capitalist Tool.
